Adelaide City Council Concerned About Threats of Violence Against Staff

Council Gardeners return to work in the south parklands under police guard as authorities battle to control escalating violence in the area.

Adelaide City council staff are being accompanied by armed officers, and “city safety officers”, amid mounting concerns for their safety. 

a series of crisis meetings involving senior council bureaucrats who have become increasingly alarmed about threats against staff.

The actions have renewed calls for a dry zone trial to be created immediately to combat public safety threats


The council insists it was working swiftly to address the “escalation” in alcohol-fuelled violence and anti-social behaviour around Veale Gardens.
