Bin Rage on the Rise for Scottish Refuse Collectors

Following the launch of a police investigation after a bin man was shot in the face with an air rifle in Mid Calder, West Lothian, The Scottish Express has revealed that refuse collectors are increasingly on the receiving end of "bin rage" attacks, with more than two verbal and physical assaults every month.

The Express used a Freedom of Information request to ask every council in Scotland to supply details of all abuse directed towards their refuse collection workers over the past three years.

In total, there were 83 incidents - although Glasgow City Council could only supply figures for one year.

The tally of violence includes a hammer attack in Inverclyde; a thug who threatened to stab a bin man in South Lanarkshire; and another West Lothian resident who tried to mow down two bin men in his car.
