Council Calls for CCTV to Protect Staff

Council staff in Millom, Cumbria are suffering an increase in incidents of verbal abuse from residents complaining about services.

Workers worried about the threat of violence are reducing working hours to prevent working alone or working behind barriers to avoid having to confront aggressive members of the public.

Consideration is being given to changes that can be made to working environments to reduce the risks to staff and councillors are calling for 24 hour CCTV to be installed in customer facing offices.
