Physical Assaults on the Rise in the Act - Crime Victimisation Survey

The latest Crime Victimisation Survey released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows levels of physical assaults in the ACT are increasing.

There were 7,700 victims of face to face physical assault in the year 2012-13. Although the overall rate of victimisation in the 'Capital' was one of the lowest at 2.6%, the rate of physical assaults was the third highest behind the Northern Territory and Tasmania at 3.4% - the same rate as Western Australia and South Australia.   , 

Assault figures for the survey include physical assault and threatened assault, which includes face to face and non face to face threatened assault.
