South London Lollipop Lady Threatened by Abusive Pupils

Croydon Today reports on a parental campaign for the return of a popular lollipop lady. 'Jenny' left her job with Croydon Council after 12 years saying she could no longer put up with verbal and threatened physical abuse from a small number of pupils attending the nearby Phil Edwards Pupil Referral Unit.

A council spokesman said: "Council staff have important jobs to carry out, so it is totally unacceptable that they should be abused by members of the public, and we will always support officers if there is an accusation of a verbal or physical attack."
