Violence Against the Person Up in Latest Crime Survey for England and Wales

Violence against the person is up 21%, according to the latest Crime Survey for England and Wales.

Better recording standards and compliance are thought to have played a part in the significant increase in tis category which bucks the downward trend. There were an estimated 6.9 million incidents of crime against households and resident adults (aged 16 and over) in England and Wales, a 7% decrease compared with the previous year’s survey, and the lowest estimate since the CSEW began in 1981.
