Violence and Aggression at Work Faced by Most Nurses

Almost 70 per cent of nurses have experienced violence or aggression at work in the past year, according to the members’ journal of the Victorian branch of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation. The Journal published results of a survey of 4900 nurses, midwives and personal carers carried out by Monash University.

The survey also revealed the patients (40 per cent) and their relatives (40 per cent) were the source of most incidents.

Violence Reduction

Just over one third (32 per cent)  of those who responded said they had received no training for managing violence and aggression.
