A training solution for any situation

The versatility of Maybo’s training has been put to the test by Durham County Council who use the conflict management programmes across several departments. From neighbourhood wardens and customer services, to waste disposal teams and trading standards, staff have started to benefit from Maybo’s calming and defusing techniques.

Employees in the different roles needed support to deal safely and effectively with issues such as verbal abuse, verbal threats and in some cases, physical assault, as well as lone working.Through our training needs analysis process the basic skills and programme were tailored to suit the particular environment each group of staff work in. The risks staff face were carefully identified and solutions introduced in the training through situation examples and realistic scenarios.

Low level breakaway skills are only introduced in training for staff who face a real risk of physical threat at work as Maybo’s main focus is on de-escalation and giving staff confidence to assertively and effectively manage incidents before they get out of hand.

Education and Enforcement Manager at Durham, Mark Farren said, “Maybo has designed a course that is ideal for our organisation. Not only does it meet the national qualification standards we were after, it does so via examples and scenarios that match the situations our staff face on a day-to-day basis. Taken alongside the high quality instructors that Maybo have provided, it is not surprising that several of our staff have stated it is the best course they have ever attended.”
