Maybo appointed as conflict prevention training provider
Maybo’s Occupational Violence Prevention (OVP) training is being rolled out to staff throughout Australia’s South West Hospital and Health Service, having appointed Maybo as their external training provider.
Chief Executive of the health service, Linda Patat, said that equipping staff with skills to prevent and manage conflict was a key priority for the organisation, including positive and safer approaches to clinically related challenging behaviour.
“Maybo will ensure that a best practice approach is taken at all times and will ensure consistency across all Queensland facilities,” she said.
Two of South West’s staff attended a two-week intensive training programme with Maybo, where they developed the skills and understanding to deliver the OVP training to staff across their organisation.
Jeff Potter, who attended the programme, said that the training was some of the best that he has experienced in his career: “Maybo has extensively demonstrated experience in the delivery of conflict resolution and assault avoidance training in the health care sector both in Australia and around the world.
“It has a layered and blended approach. They provide a comprehensive training program to meet the needs of staff in different service areas, all are based on a human rights approach with a person-centred focus.”
